Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Emerging Markets Business & Economic Studies (EMBES) is a double blind peer-reviewed journal. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewers, and the publisher (GMB Science Press, Mandiri Ukhuwah Persada Foundation). This statement is based on COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in a double blind peer-reviewed journal, Emerging Markets Business & Economic Studies (EMBES), is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publishing process: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and society.
GMB Science Press by Mandiri Ukhuwah Persada Foundation, as the publisher of EMBES, takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and recognizes its ethical responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenue have no impact or influence on editorial decisions. Additionally, the publisher and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where necessary.
Publication Decisions
The editor of EMBES is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation and significance of the work must always drive such decisions. Editors may be guided by the journal's editorial policies and constrained by applicable legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with reviewers or other editors in making decisions.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, without regard to authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than authorized parties (corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher).
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the author's written consent.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Double blind peer review assists editors in making decisions and can help authors improve their manuscripts.
Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to review promptly should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential and not shared without authorization.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews must be objective. Personal criticism of authors is not acceptable. Reviewers should express views clearly with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant work not cited by authors and report similarities or overlaps with other published papers.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information obtained through review must remain confidential and not be used for personal gain. Reviewers should avoid manuscripts with conflicts of interest.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate and objective accounts of their work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical.
Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data and should retain data for a reasonable time after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure their work is original and properly cite or quote the work of others.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not publish the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same work to multiple journals concurrently is unethical.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite influential publications.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship is limited to those who significantly contribute to the research. All co-authors must approve the final paper and its submission. Additional authors may only be added during review with explanation.
The editorial board reserves the right to postpone or terminate publication if unauthorized authors are added post-review.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
Authors must identify any hazardous materials, procedures, or equipment used in their research.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose financial or other conflicts that may influence their results or interpretation, including funding sources.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
Authors must promptly notify the editor if they discover significant errors in their published work and cooperate in corrections or retractions.
